New Tor Tiv: Gov. Ortom Hosts Northern Governors


Chairman Governors forum Abdulaziz Yari has tasks Nigerians to be calm as efforts are being put in place by the Federal Government to put the country on a sound footing.

Abdulaziz Yari, made the remarks while speaking at a gala nite at the new Banquet Hall of Benue Government House organised by the Benue state government in Makurdi as part of activities lineup for the coronation of the fifth Tor Tiv, held yesterday in Gboko.

The Chairman Governors Forum said the present Administration inherited a disorganised Nigeria with each sector needing urgent attention and stressed that the Government of the Federation is working assiduously to fixing them and as well thriving to hard to identify areas that will quicken the process of alleviating the sufferings of the people.

The Chairman maintained that the challenges are not excuses for them not to perform and called on Nigerians to give them the desired support so that the country can move forward.

Abdulaziz stated that concerted effort is being made to reposition Nigeria and posited that, very soon things would be put in their right perspective, placing premium emphasis on the improvement in the nation’s economy.

Earlier, the Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom said he is on a mission towards making Benue state the food basket not only in Nigeria but Africa, saying that, there are various initiatives undertaken by his government specifically to make farming vibrant in Benue state.

He said apart from coming up with measures that would put farmers in a vintage position in the state; he is also putting in place a mechanism that will boost large-scale participation and enhanced production.

Samuel Ortom thanked the Governors that attended the gala nite and said some of the Governors are also attending the birthday celebration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and pray God to reward them.

Various unity songs from the Tiv songs and dances, Idoma songs and dances and Igede songs and dances featured during the gala nite, which thrilled most guests.

Taraba state Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku and other Governors were later invited to the dance floor as a mark of honour and respect to the visiting Governors to also partake in the unity dance.

The gala nite was a mini convergence of the Governors to kick start the coronation activities of the new Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse.
