Seven people have been confirmed dead in a road accident involving two vehicles at Fanga village along Katsina/Kano road.

Thirteen other people sustained various degrees of injury in the accident, which occurred on Wednesday evening, and are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Kankia.
The remains of the dead were moved to the hospital’s mortuary.

The Katsina Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, Abdu-Sule Bagadawa, who confirmed the accident, attributed it to wrong overtaking and speeding.

The two vehicles involved in the accident, according to him, are a Volkswagen Golf 111 with Registration number: RRN 312 XA and “Sharon” with Registration number: KMC 650 AA.

Bagadawa said the driver of one of the vehicles wrongly overtook the other while on a top speed, resulting in the fatal accident.
He implored road users particularly commercial drivers to be cautious on the road and regulate their speed.
