A Northern Ireland international has been identified as an option to bolster the Gunners' defence after Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista suffered injuries in pre-season.

Jonny Evans
Arsenal have been dealt a further blow in their bid to sign a central defender after West Brom demanded £25 million for Jonny Evans, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Gunners are keen to bolster their defence after injuries to Per Mertesacker to Gabriel Paulista during pre-season.

And Arsene Wenger has identified Evans - along with Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi - as an option, though his pricetag looks likely to deter the Emirates Stadium outfit.
Evans was one of the promising footballers in Manchester United before he was offloaded for falling behind the pecking order at Old Trafford.
